What is Reiki?

Reiki is a powerful Japanese energy therapy
"re-discovered" in the early 1900's by Mikao Usui. Reiki
means "universal life force energy" - it is the energy, the
power, the breath of life, the God-force, the chi that runs
through all living things and surrounds all of us as it filters
through the Universe. This energy heals, protects, helps us
to function on a higher level, and connects us to "God" the
"Universe", "Spirit", "Life". For a variety of reasons, the
flow of this energy through living beings can become
stagnant or blocked. Reiki practitioners guide this energy
and help it to flow freer and "unstick" the crud that builds
up inside us - physical, emotional, spiritual - that has been
accumulated during our time on this less-than-perfect
planet.

Special meditation and use of techniques meant to help the
practitioner "tap into and direct" this energy have been
passed down from Dr Usui to practitioners who in turn
have passed these things on to other practitioners. This has
created a  "lineage", a line leading directly back to Dr
Usui. All practitioners of Usui Reiki can trace their lineage
directly back to Dr Usui.

Reiki is becoming more and more popular each year. The
National Institute of Health has conducted at least one
study on reiki thus far, and other studies/investigations
continue to go on. It is fast becoming an acceptable
alternative therapy along with massage, chiropractic,
homeopathy, etc.

Who should receive reiki? Simple - anyone, human or
animal can benefit. It is useful for all ailments, physical or
mental (and in the case of animals with behavior issues, as
an adjunct to more traditional behavioral therapies). To
help you achieve "balance", for spiritual growth, or just
BECAUSE.

Disclaimer: reiki is not meant to diagnose, prevent
or treat any human or animal ailment, disease or
injury.
